چکیده

Previously, Colletotrichum spp. has been considered a warmer climate pathogen as these meteorological conditions are most optimal for its development. However, change is fostering the spread of plant disease and complicating ability to predict This study aims determine anthracnose development, evaluate susceptibility different strawberry cultivars detect distribution pathogens in temperate conditions. The experiment was carried out Institute Horticulture Lithuanian Research Centre Agriculture Forestry (LAMMC) Lithuania during 2018–2019 growing season. To contamination levels (fungal bacterial pathogens) parts, soil Colletotrichumacutatum, samples were collected at four locations from eleven cultivars. results revealed that not equally prevalent all farms tested. evaluation indicated leaves stems similarly contaminated with pathogenic fungi. frequently isolated fungi Mycosphaerella spp., Alternaria Fusarium Phytophthora Botrytis Our confirmed response cultivar C. acutatum unequal. suitable temperature C.acutatum development 25 °C. Monitoring conditions, inoculum source appropriate selection could reduce or avoid yield losses caused by acutatum.

Strawberry Anthracnose: Histopathology of Colletotrichum acutatum and C. fragariae.

ABSTRACT Ontogeny of the invasion process by Colletotrichum acutatum and C. fragariae was studied on petioles and stolons of the strawberry cultivar Chandler using light and electron microscopy. The invasion of host tissue by each fungal species was similar; however, each invasion event occurred more rapidly with C. fragariae than with C. acutatum. Following cuticular penetration via an appress...

Pre- and Post-Infection Activity of Pyraclostrobin for Control of Anthracnose Fruit Rot of Strawberry Caused by Colletotrichum acutatum

Strawberry anthracnose, caused by Colletotrichum acutatum J. H. Simmonds, is one of the most serious diseases in commercial strawberry production. Even in well-managed fields, losses due to the fruit-rotting phase can exceed 50% when conditions favor disease development (10). Historically, the disease has been thought of as a “southern” disease (16), occurring primarily in the warmer production...

Molecular Diversity of Anthracnose Pathogen Populations Associated with UK Strawberry Production Suggests Multiple Introductions of Three Different Colletotrichum Species

Fragaria × ananassa (common name: strawberry) is a globally cultivated hybrid species belonging to Rosaceae family. Colletotrichum acutatum sensu lato (s.l.) is considered to be the second most economically important pathogen worldwide affecting strawberries. A collection of 148 Colletotrichum spp. isolates including 67 C. acutatum s.l. isolates associated with the phytosanitary history of UK s...

Molecular and phenotypic analyses reveal association of diverse Colletotrichum acutatum groups and a low level of C. gloeosporioides with olive anthracnose.

Anthracnose (Colletotrichum spp.) is an important disease causing major yield losses and poor oil quality in olives. The objectives were to determine the diversity and distribution pattern of Colletotrichum spp. populations prevalent in olives and their relatedness to anthracnose pathogens in other hosts, assess their pathogenic variability and host preference, and develop diagnostic tools. A t...

Inheritance of Resistance to Colletotrichum acutatum Simmonds on Runners of Garden Strawberry and its Backcrosses

Two half diallel mating designs were conducted to study the inheritance of resistance to Colletotrichum acutatum Simmonds on runners of strawberry. The main design included six genotypes representing a range of responses to the pathogen: ‘Chandler’ (very susceptible); FL 87-210 (tolerant); MS/US 541 (very resistant); NC 92-01 (Fragaria chiloensis Duch.) (resistant); NCH 87-10 (tolerant-suscepti...
